Proverbs 3 Ministries is a nonprofit corporation providing transportation services for the Grand Valley area. The Grand Valley area is comprised primarily of the City of Grand Junction which is the largest city located in western Colorado. Grand Junction is situated 247 miles west of Denver, Colorado. Proverbs 3 will form partnerships with local businesses, other nonprofit organizations and individuals within our community. Our focus is to assist with transportation for both secular and religious needs. The goal of Proverbs 3 is to identify these needs and offer transportation where it otherwise wouldn’t be available or afforded. Though being proactive by assisting others with their transportation need, we will make a true positive impact within their life.
Proverbs 3 Ministries is in direct response to multiple transportation needs within our own community. The need for transportation is found in both the religious and secular realms. Within the religious realm there is a busing need to get people to and from church. There are many children and families who would go to church but don’t otherwise have a means to get there. Most churches in the Grand Valley do not offer their own busing due to their own organizational budget shortfalls. There is also a need to help children get to other Christian based ministries located, sometimes, as far away as a few hours from the Grand Valley. Often times these ministries provide much needed programs for the youth in our community however they rely on the family members of these children to get them to and from these programs. Many times this results in far less youth participating in these vital programs due to a lack of transportation.
In the secular realm there are currently many nonprofits within the grand valley that have busing needs. They provide a much needed service however do not provide the necessary transportation many people need to take part in the services offered. There are also individuals who have vital appointments but transportation either isn’t available or affordable; making it difficult to get to their appointment. Lastly, there are those individuals within our community who will drink and drive. Proverbs 3 wants to strip away the excuses for drinking and driving by providing transportation for individuals who would otherwise drink and drive.
Accomplishing these needs through transportation provides an essential way to reach out and show God’s love in a real and practical way. Transportation will be provided on an as needed, first come first serve basis. Organizations or individuals will call Proverbs 3 and request our services and will be placed on our calendar for service. The exception to this rule will be our DUI prevention program. This program will be accomplished by providing individuals with a free ride home through a structured and reliable busing program which will run complementary to the already existing Grand Valley Transit system.
